GMCCS was involved in the construction of two Field Compressor Stations (FCSs) as part of the QCLNG project at Kenya East and Jammat sites. The FCSs collect the gas from well pads and send it to the Central Processing Plant. Each FCS consists of four Compressors, four Coolers, one 18MVA transformer, one 1MVA Transformer, one Oil Interceptor Pit, one Nitrogen and Instrument Air Foundation, one Flare Stack, one Gathering Line Structure, three Electrical Rooms and numerous Pile Caps and miscellaneous footings.
The structural, mechanical and piping requirements for this site were new to both GMCCS and the client. Previously, projects in the region did not require such thorough surveying to meet the QA requirements. GMCCS gained valuable experience in a number of techniques and methods across Earthworks, FRP & SMP on this project which can be utilised to provide a complete service for its clients moving forward.
